Derek Southall's Palindrome Shade (Mar 07)

It's not what there is, it's what there isn't. See? Right there in the middle.
Until recently, my efforts have been more or less confined to the limited audience of the Maths Department.  The other day, however, I decided to take the unorthodox approach of looking for bad art in the Arts Centre.  Turns out the bunch of LEDs above Fopp isn't a botched lighting feature at all, but is labelled as a representation of the reflection of sunlight from the Cornish sea.  But the piece I decided to apply my touch to was Palindrome Shade.  This piece of 'art' takes what would be merely a badly painted and grossly oversized canvas and chops a chunk out of it.  My switchover was made easier by the fact that the notice holder came off the wall in my hands, so I just took the whole thing out to a secluded spot, switched notices and stuck it back, albeit loosely, in its place.
